The engineering department is a support group inside the Kalitta Air Maintenance division that provides technical support and design capability to all Kalitta Air and Kalitta Maintenance departments.

We offer aircraft structural repair for repairs beyond published limits that are FAA approved or accepted, and if required we can assist with application and approval for alternate method of compliance (AMOC) when the repair is in an Airworthiness Directive (AD) area. Modification or alteration design that can be either FAA approved or accepted to the operators specification. Damage tolerance Evaluation of previously installed repairs, alterations, or modifications. Assistance with or the development of Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) to requested configuration. The development and approval of Part Manufacturing Authorization (PMA) for parts at customer request. 

We have a combination of degreed engineers with aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering degrees, FAA licensed (A&P) Mechanics with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in their field (I.e. structures, mechanic) that have additional design experience. Our management staff has a combined 90 years of experience in maintenance or engineering with a combined total of 50 years’ experience in aircraft structural and mechanical engineering. 

We work with Solidworks and Autocad for design work. We work with Nastran, Nasgrow, and Afgrow for fatigue and crack progression analysis. 

Engineering has the capability to design TSO products, Loading of Passenger Arrangements (LOPA) and has access to Designated Engineering Representatives (DER) and Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DAR) to assist in approval of any needed projects in minimal time frames.
